Do You Really Want to Know the Secret to Life?
Do You Really Want to Know the Secret to Life?
John 10
Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Toney, Alabama, May 3, 2020, Ernest L. Williams Sr.
We are captivated by a good movie, a good TV show, the news, or a sports event. Why is that?
We want to know. We want to be in the know. Most times, that knowledge does not add or
subtract from our character, but our minds suggest otherwise. You remember when we were
little, we would watch Bruce Lee and we swear we could fight like Bruce Lee. In all actuality,
we could not.
The mind’s quest for knowledge is great. The mind, like any other muscle needs to be exercised
or utilized or if not it will not maintain its purpose. The Lord Jesus explains this mystery to life
in John 10. You will be surprised to know the answer to life. In a nutshell, Jesus is the answer to
life. I remember serving at a church years ago and a lady said to me, “Pastor, when are we going
to go to the next level?” I pondered that for a while. The next level, I replied is already here. But
nobody wants to hear that. People think its always something else, so we are always looking for
the next best thing. But what if we got it.
Listen to what John says in 1 John 5:11-12,
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”

Conclusion
Jesus is the answer and the secret to life. To know him is the ultimate. Why know Him? Because
He is the only one that knows all about us (Ps. 139). He knows us so well; he would not allow
anybody (a hireling) to redeem us. He came to this world himself and paid the price for our
salvation. Now watch this. He died and gave his blood to save (fix) our ultimate problem (sin).
Since he made us, he knows us, thus he is the only one that can fix us. I am very particular about
my vehicles (in terms of letting someone else drive them); not because I am selfish but because I
know all the secrets to let’s say my Tahoe. Other people won’t be as considerate as you when it
comes to your own. On the side of the driver’s seat there is a loose screw. The engine has a water
problem, it overheats easily. The gas tank needs replacing. It pumps gas very lowly. With all of
this said, I love my truck. It’s my truck. It took me 5 years to pay for it. I worked hard to buy it.
But wait a minute. That’s what Jesus did for us. When we were messed up in sin, He didn’t
throw us away. He came down to this world and died for us. He died for our secrets. He died for
the parts that are broken in our lives. But you must give even those things to Him. Give him your
loose screws, your broken radiators, your messed-up engines… He knows
